Anti-TOBACCO Brigade

Nodal Officer : Incharge(s) of our NSS Unit

Our College has come a long way in keeping the college campus smoke free through we still have a lot more to do in this area. Helped by a group of dedicated volunteers of the Tobacco Brigade the college has organised programmes for creating awareness about the consumption of Tobacco in any form. The volunteers were sensitized to the problems related to tobacco consumption and they in turn worked their peer groups to check smoking in particular.

The awareness programme included and Intra-college Declamation and painting competition, followed by an inter-college Declamation, Painting and Nukkad natak Competition... Those who got first positions in the Intra-college competitions participated in the inter-college competition. Our student, Himanshu, of third year History (Hons.) stood second in the Declamation and though we did not win any prizes in painting, the Nukkad natak won the third prize. All the competitions both intra and inter were sponsored by the World Lung Foundation who are a partner in the Delhi University Smoke Free Intitiative.

In this academic session, the university has empowered the Nodal Officers to impose fine on the students and staff who are found smoking on the college campus. we have come a long way in making our campus smoke free but we know that there is still a lot to do and college with help of the Tobacco Brigade is striving to achieve just that.
