The Environment Committee of the
college "Haritima" has remained very active throughout the year.
Students began this year by organising a Cleanliness Drive in the
college in the month of August. In September our students
participating in the inter College nature Quiz organised by St.
Stephens College in which out teams won Ist (Pritam & Diivisha) and
3rd (Boris and hausal) prizes. A seminar by Sweecha and I-Dream on
'Leadership and Need to Volunteer' was also held in the month of
September. E-waste collection week with Nokia and I- Dream was
celebrated from (9th to 12th November) in which students from
various colleges of the campus was followed by a music concert,
E-waste to wealth competition, a street play, poster making and a
seminar on e -waste.
Our students Shashi, Mumtaz,
Ranjana and Indu went to Dahod, Gujarat on 27th January 2011 for
Rural Exposure programme with Sweecha. A cycle Rally with IP College
was organised on 8th February within the North Campus with the aim
to create awareness about conservation of fossil fuels and
eco-friendly life style.
Annual festival "Prakriti Kumbh"
was organised on 23rd February 2011 which witnessed a huge
registration of nearly 1000 students from various colleges of the
university. The carnival was inaugurated by a very inspiring and
delightful lecture by a senior scientist from SES, JNU, Professor
Kasturi Datta. Many formal competitive events like discussion on the
relation between environment and various development projects taken
up by the govt., environment quiz, essay writing, caption could
depict their knowledge and concerns regarding the environment. This
was accompanied by some fun packed educative events as Ad-Mad,
Scavenger hunt and Green Tambola.
